This hunter is new to the great calling that is Monster Hunter Portable 3rd. Coincidentally, the neophyte found liking to the Switch Axe - the latest addition to the many deadly hunting arsenal.

And thus, the switch was made.

Tyrant Axe is the strongest Switch Axe of this warrior hunter which was made from the various parts of the monster Diablos. Thus, only weapons that are more powerful than Tyrant Axe shall be listed for the new hunter's picking.

The Element in the left indicates which element resistant armor a Hunter should wear. Relatively, a hunter must exploit Weakness by wielding a weapon of the mentioned Element in the right side.

Great Jaggi is basically one of the easiest monsters to hunt.

Bulldrome is another monster that's easy to hunt.

Great Froggi can have it's poison sac destroyed, reducing the potency and range of the poison it spits.

Rathalos falls to the ground and gets stunned by throwing a Sonic Bomb at it while it's flying.

Doboruberuku, because of it's massive size, is weak against Pitfall Traps.

Jinouga is invulnerable to Shock Traps when Enraged.

Barroth is the Dinosaur Beast of the Earth. This mud monster loves to play with mud and can splash this mud on a Hunter to slow him down (but it's nothing a Cleanser can't help). It's weakest point is it's forearms. When armored, it is weak against Water and invulnerable to Fire but when the armor comes off, it is weak against Fire and invulnerable to Water. It is moderately vulnerable against Ice. Taking off its armor makes it drop a shiny. In Sandy Plains, it can be found beneath the mud of Area 3. When attempting to smash it's head, it is advised to use a Hammer.

Royal Ludroth is an iguana-like water beast with a sponge mane, which can be battered and can cause an item to drop.

Qurupeco is the Bird Wyvern King which can summon various monsters. Its tail becomes blue when low on stamina. Breaking it's beak will make it take more time when calling. It's flints can also be damaged but will not affect its ability to produce fire sparks (lowering its stamina does). Always bring a Dung Bomb to repel the monster it summons to be able to hunt the noisy bird easier.

Aoashira means Blue Armored Bear. It is weak against Fire on most of the front part - head, body and front legs. As for its back parts - hind legs and rear, it is vulnerable to Ice. Use Sonic Bomb to agitate it. It will also drop a shiny when hit by a Dung Bomb (besides walking away).

Gigginox is known as the Creeping Venom - a cross between leech and bat. It is blind therefore throwing a Flash Bomb is useless. Its head is usually vulnerable but when enraged, its skin turns to a darker pigmentation and it is advisable to hit the tail. Use a Dung Bomb to get out of its pin attack.

Nargacuga looks like a cross between a panther and a large bat. When it enrages, the spikes on its tail sticks out. It will stagger once Sonic Bombs are thrown at it while it's prowling. It's face, wings and tail can be cut. It can destroy Pitfall Traps when it is not Enraged. It is the flagship monster of Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G and Monster Hunter Freedom Unite.

Hapurubokka's is a whale-like leviathan that swims in the sand but when fished out, it looks more like a gigantic turtle frog. Its forelegs can be broken and doing so will make the monster turn over, making it vulnerable to more attacks. When it is weakened, it's gills will extend outwards. Always bring some Sonic Bombs and Barrel Bombs. Sonic Bomb can cause it to stagger while underground. Make the Hapurubokka devour a Barrel Bomb to be able to "fish" it out of the sand and be able to land free blows on it as it attempts to resume balance.

Rathian is the Queen of the Dragons. When it's hungry, it feeds on an Aptonoth and sometimes drop a shiny. Its male counterpart is the Rathalos. If it attempts to fly, throw a Sonic Bomb at it and it will lose balance and fall.

Barioth is a Saber-Toothed Tiger Wyvern which is capable of breathing Ice Blasts. Its blue eyes become red when enraged. It is a good idea to destroy the Barioth's wings because this will affect its movement in ice.

Uragaan is a Mineral-Covered Hammer Dinosaur Brute. Destroying its chin will make it its weakest point. When enraged, it will huff black smoke. When it falls to its side, hunters may mine from its back.

Jinouga, the Thunder Wolf, is the flagship monster of Monster Hunter Portable 3rd. using Shock Trap on it will only boost its lightning powers. When enraged, it is unvulnerable to Shock Traps. It is easier to trip this beast by attacking its hind legs. When it does, a hunter can catch Thunderbugs or Mega Thunderbug from the Lightning Wolf's back. Be wary of the sound it makes. If it wimpers like a dog, that means it is almost dead.

As a monster hunter, the first weapon of choice was the Great Sword because it boasts the following features - massive, hard-hitting and aesthetically menacing. It was a pick over the Sword and Shield and Dual Swords because of its lumbering presence. Long Swords, Lance, and Gunlance had thinner blades. It has the potential to cause more bleeding than the Hammer, Hunting Horn. Switch Axe was a close contender but it was more an unpopular pick. Using the Great Sword, the hunter can choose to Smash, Slash, Upswing, and Parry. A swing can cause more pain by hesitating before letting go a blow.

The best Great Sword of this blade-wielding hunter is the Cataract Sword.

The [Priest] from [Springwood] is known to mete out Goddess' justice to heretics through the stern forces that comes from the heavens - [Holy] and [Lightning]. The Priest is known to cast the following spells granted only to the pure and just:

[Lightning Relic] - the Priests summons a sacred relic that electrocutes nearby adversaries.

[Holy Bolt] - the Priest lends from the Goddess a ball of light that upon contact, explodes and binds troublemakers in a state to know their rightful place. However, foes who are knocked down will not be locked.

[Grand Cross] - the Priest casts this steadfast phoenix-like Holy energy which incinerates everything in its path. However, casting this spell takes time and may be interrupted, therefore the [Holy Bolt] must be cast before this one, ensure that the enemies are locked in place to receive this fiery punishment.

[Mind Breaker] - after a [Sliding Step], the Priest casts a Ball Lightning. Opponents that are caught in the Ball Lightning will experience a series of shocks.

[Lightning Volt] - wielding a sword of Lightning, the Priest smites foe men that are in a line and the voltage caused by the spell has chance to render them immobile.

[Chain Lightning] - from the Priest's wands comes forth sparks of justice which randomly hits 5 or more targets.

[Charged Bolt] - it is said that when a Priest slams the ground in a righteous fury, a cross of lightning is summoned and is ready to abolish evil in the consecrated ground.

[Lightning Strike] - aided by the Goddess, lightning shoots from the sky after a Priest declares a marked one an evildoer.
